Frequently Asked Questions at Matt Bishop Therapy

Where is your office located?

My office is located right on the border between Bankers Hill and Hillcrest.

3356 Second Avenue, Suite ISan Diego, CA 92103

I also offer teletherapy for those who live outside of the region or would simply prefer virtual therapy for logistical or personal reasons.

What are your office hours?

Monday 8 am – 2 pm; 6-7 pm
Tuesday 8 am – 8 pm
Wednesday 8 am – 11 am; 6-7 pm
Thursday 8 am – 8 pm
Friday 8 am – 2 pm

What is your hourly fee?

My hourly fee is $200 for a 50-minute session.

Do you charge more for couples?
Nope.
Who do you see?

I see teenagers and adult clients as well as couples.

Will you see my crazy teenager?

I will, so long as the parents to whom the teenager belongs to are not even crazier.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

I do! I offer a sliding scale on a limited basis. But you have to be brave and ask me about it and then be willing to disclose some financial information.

Do you take insurance?

I do not take insurance. But many insurance companies will reimburse you for a certain percentage of the cost of your sessions. In that case, I can provide you with a “superbill,” which you can submit to your insurance company, and then they will issue you a check.

To see if your health insurance plan covers therapy, you can give them a call and ask a representative, “Does my insurance cover any out-of-network mental health care?”

How do I set up an appointment?

Please fill out the form at the bottom of the page, and I will get in touch with you from there!

Can I text you?

Yes. But the content of the text messages needs to be pragmatic issues only like questions about beginning therapy, billing, scheduling, or sending me a very funny meme. (858) 208-0131

What if I have more questions?

Then email me! Or text/call and give me some time for me to get back to you! Your call message will always go straight to my voicemail, but I will call you back within 24 hours and most often the same day.
